The Suzuki GT750 - an introduction

The Kettle Club has amassed a vast catalogue of information on the GT750, with content ranging from how the Kettle (which became its commonly used sobriquet in the UK) was conceived, its introduction onto the world stage, and its development throughout the 1970's until production ceased towards the end of that decade.

Produced between 1971 and 1977, some 71000 GT750’s were sold world-wide. Though not a sporting motorcycle (it was never intended to be from the outset) it established itself as a worthy 2 stroke alternative to Honda’s massively popular (400,000 sales 1969 - 1982) CB750. Having said that, the GT’s engine had a huge tuning potential, and it enjoyed notable success in the famed TR racers of the 70’s, particularly in the hands of such racing legends as Barry Sheen.
