Once again, the Club has established a record at the Stafford CMM Classic Motorcycle Show, by taking the award for 'Best Club Stand' for the second year running; a feat never before achieved by a club at this show.
After scooping up virtually every award in the main categories with last year's effort; the club decided to throttle back a bit this year, adding a touch of humour to the mix. The stand was divided into 2 halves, with one half devoted to a display of 5 very fine examples of the marque, whilst the other half was given over to a rather tongue-in-cheek take on the 'GT' aspect of the model, with a sort of 1930's 'Gentleman's tourer' theme. The team kitted out a couple of bikes with all manner of items ranging from a portable toilet and shower with hot and cold plumbing, to a shotgun and other sundry items essential for traversing the African savanna in style! This was all set against a background resembling the drawing room of a gentlemen's club, with wood panelling and even a portrait of the late departed Queen sitting astride a Kettle.
Needless to say, it went down a storm with the public, other clubs and the show judges. By 10am on the Sunday morning, each machine was adorned with the coveted 'Best Club' rosette and the team were left wondering what on earth we might do as a follow up next year? Time will tell!
